Day 18 - Day 10 of road trip

To Pilzen! Left Colonge at 750am this morning and arrived at Pilzen at 4pm. Long day, left Colonge in torrential rain and after about 1 hour, clear skies and out came the sun! Strange weather but very grateful rain stopped as visibility was very poor. Stopped at this beautiful place on the way, Messelbraun (I think!) to visit this Schloss, unbeleivable. Paid to look through the place but then got into trouble because we had parked in the wrong spot, so,Gary went back to the car whilst I quickly took internal photos. Was upstairs photographing the bedroom when a man came through a door and said something to me in German, quite angry! I said, sorry don't speak German and he said you cannot be here on your own, must be with a tour. So I said, well I don't speak German and the lady doing the tour only spoke German so I was walking around by myself and he said well you can't and I said well fine I'll go! Then I saw a sign saying you can't use phone or take photos whilst inside so I quickly left and headed back towards the car before someone said something else! Anyway the place was just stunning as you can see in the photos. After arriving in Pilsen, headed off to Pilzener Brewery as you do, too late for tour so sat and had a beer and then wandered into the old Town Centre. Lovely square with a beautiful church and there was a band set up,that are totally unaware of the legal limit for decibels! Holy dooley! Couldn't hear ourselves think! Had Vietmanses for dinner, in Pilzen listening to Tina Turner sing, Simply the Best! How multi cultural are we? Off to F and B's tomorrow so really looking forward to catching up again.

  1. Hope you made it out of Germany after breaking all the rules at Mespelbrunn Castle!!! It certainly has some beautiful rooms in there. Shame you missed the Pilsner brewery tour, I'm sure they would have included plenty of free samples at the end of the tour? Amazing blue sky overhead, looks great. Say hello to all the O'Tooles when (if) you get to Prague. Love Pam and Vernon xxxx
