Day 3 - Rathdrum to Kilkennyi

Woke up to another raining, misty day. After a fabulous home cooked brekkie d off to Avoca to the meeting of the waters, not sure which two rivers meet there but Thomas Moore, the great Irish poet used to sit on a tree there no write his poems ( picture included of old tree with new tree planted). Avoca is also the home of Ballykissangel, so took a few photos there, lovely little village, however I have never watched Ballykissangel so the photos are there for those of you who did! Decided to then head off to Wicklow when Satty wouldn't work. Turned out the fuse of the cigarette lighter had gone. Found a lovely mechanic in Arklow, who fixed it for us, no charge. Paul Bracken if ever you head to Ireland and need a great mechanic. The relief we felt was palpable! However in her true style Satty still wouldn't work, so again we had to go ancient and use maps, shock and horror!. Went to Courtown, on the beach on our way to Rosslare. Had to give Wicklow a miss, without Satty in Arklow, we couldn't find our way to the motorway to get us to Wicklow! Hopeless but if we have time when we get back to Dublin, we'll pop down for the day! Travellled the coastal road to Wexford, saw some lovely little villages, learned that a sign with a castle drawing with a flag in it, is not a castle, well it is but it is a sand castle and means it is a beach! (Picture included) Bit different tow our beaches and if it hadn't been for the mist, I am sure the beaches are beautiful. Put my feet in to check the Irish Sea ( think it's that anyway, geography never my strong suit). Had lunch at Rosslare, biggest piece of the most delicious fish! Travelled to Kilkenny via New Ross, Home of JFK. Travelled the smallest roads I have ever been on, went to Thomastown just gorgeous little place and into Kilkenny. Have decided to stay two nights here. Hope Maureen and Cath got away ok, should be with F & B by now.
