Before we left Killarney , went to Ross Castle on the Killarney lakes, just beautiful, then off to the road trip. Had to admit when we first got to Dingle, we thought Hmmm, have we made a mistake coming here but once we started on the road around the peninsula and the thick white fog cleared slightly it was easy to see why it is so popular! What a breathtaking coastline. Dingle itself was quite pretty but the mist kept rolling in, it was the weirdest thing! Stopped at Dunbeg fort and I done beg to understand how they called the pile of rocks there a fort and also from 500bc? Think the promoters have kissed the Blarney Stone! Continued the trip around, just stunning and stayed in Tralee. Booked the B&B about 1 hour before we got there and arrived at 4pm to no one there! Checked check in time and it said 430pm so off we go to the pub. We stayed at pub til about 530pm , decided to watch the semi final of the Gaelic football game between Dublin and Tyrone. Gary asked a local why one of the guys got a penalty and this very charming old fellow , goes that's not a penalty it's a foul! Turned back to the game and made it very obvious he was not up for a chat! Think he was a Tyrone supporter as they lost, and went back and no one still there. Luckily the lady next door called them for us and Mike the guy says he only just saw our booking and would be there in 10mins! 20 mins later a lady turns up, lets us in and disappears. The place is actually really beautiful, built around 1826 and there is only one other couple staying. Off to Cliffs of Moher today and then on to Galway.
Out of the Blue Seafood restaurant - they stole Terry's name for the Hartley shop, how dare they !!
ReplyDeleteThose photos of the reflections, the mist on the mountains and the coastline are so good, I'm sure you could extend your holiday by a couple of months to immerse yourselves fully into the Irish culture?? I think the best photo for today is the one of the three goats!! Love Pam and Vernon xxxx
