Day 7 - Killarney and Ring of Kerry

Well, what an amazing drive today. Up at 7am, Christine our lovely host who actually knows the meaning of bed and breakfast made us a delicious brekkie, on the road at 730am and hit the Gap,of Dunlop. Beautiful blue sky and low lying cloud made for some great scenery. The start of an really enjoyable trip. Stopped in Cahirsiveen to see the Ballycarbery castle and the stone forts. Couldn't get onto the paddock where the castle was, it was roped off with a no trespassing sign. Bit confused as the lady at the Old Barracks had told us we could go in. Headed off to the Top of the Rock for the most amazing view and the lady running us told us it was closed down on Tuesday because a 10 year old local boy had fallen and suffered head injuries. All,good now however the lady who owned the land the castle sat on said no one could go there anymore. Saw the Stone forts which were good and then onto the ferry over to the island of Valencia. From there onto the Kerry cliffs, the most amazing cliffs, so high I could go near the edges even thought there were fences! Continued on the Ring of Kerry to Kenmore and then onto Muckross house. Didn't get back into Killarney until 645pm! Long long day but really worth it. Still trying to decide where to stay tomorrow, don't want to have as long a day.

  1. Wow!!! what amazing photos of the mist and the cliffs, such a striking difference in the landscape, you are certainly seeing the good side Ireland has to offer. Just one observation - I think if you check the terms and conditions of the Blog website I think you'll find six selfies in one day may be in breach of those terms and conditions? You always liked to live dangerously though!!! (as can be seen by your cliff clinging ability on the Kerry Cliffs). Love Pam and Vernon xxxxx

    1. No I read the terms and they state for an extremely attractive couple like Gary and me, there can never be enough selfies!
